Frequently Asked Questions

Thai massage is a traditional therapeutic massage that combines stretching, acupressure, and rhythmic movements to release muscle tension, improve flexibility, and promote deep relaxation. It works by stimulating the body’s energy lines while gently mobilising joints and soft tissue.

Unlike oil-based massages, traditional Thai massage is performed in loose clothing on a mat or firm surface. The western preference is oil-based Thai massage.

For traditional Thai massage, wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows movement.

Lavender Thai Therapy offers a range of professional massage treatments, including:

  • Traditional Thai Massage (Stress Relief & Muscle Tension Massage)
  • Thai Oil Massage (Most Popular)
  • Deep Tissue Massage
  • Swedish / Relaxation Massage
  • Sports Massage

Each massage is tailored to your individual needs and comfort level.

Thai massage focuses on assisted stretching and pressure along energy lines, helping improve mobility and flexibility.

Deep tissue massage targets deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to relieve chronic tension, stiffness, and muscle pain. Your therapist can recommend the best option based on your goals.

No, not at all. Thai massage is suitable for people of all flexibility levels. Your therapist will always work within your comfort range and adapt stretches and pressure to suit your body.

Thai massage should not be painful. Some techniques may feel strong, especially if you have tight muscles, but the pressure is always adjusted to your comfort level. Please communicate with your therapist during the treatment if anything feels uncomfortable.

Massage sessions typically last:

  • 60 minutes
  • 90 minutes

A shorter 30 minute is available, but we do not include our shower facilities in this price.

Longer sessions allow more time for deeper relaxation and more thorough treatment of problem areas.

Benefits may include:

  • Reduced muscle tension and stiffness
  • Improved flexibility and mobility
  • Better circulation
  • Stress and anxiety relief
  • Improved posture and energy levels

Many clients feel both relaxed and re-energised after treatment.
